Minimalist Food Recipes That Anybody Can Cook!
Hello Foodies,
Now now, here’s a fun fact—everybody who lives, eats. Some people eat to live while others live to eat. If you belong to the latter category like me, then it’s time that you try your hand at cooking too. No, don’t be scared because in this segment I will introduce you to types of minimalist dishes that everyone can make, and no it doesn’t include maggi. So get ready, put on your chef’s hat. Let’s indulge in some magic.
Paranthas:
One of the most basic of the lot, it makes for a great Indian breakfast. You can personalise the filling—paneer (cottage cheese), onion, potato, cauliflower, etc. Some people also like to experiment and have pea paranthas. Well, be creative and let your taste buds do the magic. Have the filling ready with an appropriate amount of salt and chili for taste. Put the right amount of filling in the dough, cover it, roll it with a rolling pin into any shape—I personally love the triangular one that my dadi makes and the square one too that my maasi experiments with. Then simply cook it on a metal tawa by adding ample amount of ghee or oil (whatever you prefer).
Sandwiches:
Another of the usuals seen on any Indian household breakfast menu is the sandwich. Indian mothers love to experiment here too. While some of them prepare the traditional parantha filling and simply spread it on the bread slices and put them together to cook them as a sandwich on a tawa, others like to do it in style. They use a sandwich maker and grill it often. Some like to keep it on the healthier side by simply taking bread slices and putting raw slices of cucumber, onion, tomato, etc. and sprinkling a bit of salt for taste. They don’t prefer to cook it on a tawa or in a sandwich maker to avoid greasing it and add to the calories.
Pizza:
Nowadays, pizza isn’t just limited to Dominos and Pizza Hut and other such outlets. Experimental Indian mothers have made it possible to make a pizza at home with personalised toppings. Take inspiration from them and get on with the pizza game. Pizza bases are easily available at grocery stores or bakeries. For toppings, you can chop raw capsicum, onion, tomato, paneer, red pepper, olives, etc. according to your taste. For authenticity, buy a jar of pizza spread or mayonnaise. Spread it on the pizza base and then sprinkle the toppings. Grate enough cheese and then place it in an oven. Keep checking it in between. As soon as the base turns slightly brown, know that the pizza is ready to be cut into pieces and served hot.
