Heart Touching Poetries That Today's Youth Can Relate To.

I’m sick of listening to these loud, meaningless Bollywood songs. Whenever I tune in to any radio, it’s just EDM or remixes that are playing on these channels. I mean what’s happening? Where are the original, meaningful lyrics?

Well, being a 25-year old, I can definitely tell on the behalf of many others that today’s youth doesn’t want this. A song or two for partying is okay, but at the end, we want something soulful and relaxing, to which we can relate.

We are searching for words that have a deeper meaning in them, poetries about life and hurdles, lyrics that could describe us. So, I did a little research and came out with five greatest Bollywood writers poetries that you’ll love to read.

Here is the Pandora’s Box, go open it!

Piyush Mishra

He is a great actor, orator, singer, and an amazing poet. He is a man that can easily win you forever with his words. If you’ve ever attended his live poetry sessions, then you’ll know what I’m talking about. So, to give you a little sneak peek of this epic writer, I combined some of his popular and well-loved couplets together. Take a look:

Dard ki Baarish mein hum akele hi the,

Jab barsi khusiyaan, na jaane bheed kahan se aagayi...

Wo kaam bhala kya kaam hua

Jisme sala dil ro jaaye,

Wo ishq bhala kya ishq hua

Jo aasani se ho jaaye!

Kaise karein ham khud ko tere pyaar ke kaabil,

Jab ham aadatein badalte hain...

Tum sharat badal dete ho...

Prasoon Joshi

Who doesn’t know about this adman? He has a passion for words, and his words have the power to move the waves of the ocean. Whether it’s his iconic campaigns for Coca Cola, Nestle, or Happydent or his breathtaking writing for Taare Zameen Par, Rang De Basanti, or Bhaag Milkha Bhaag – he’s pretty popular among the youth of our country. But, how many of you know about his poetry skills? Every now and then, Prasoon makes sure that through his words he helps the society to change and transform. He has done many campaigns on social causes with UNICEF and Government of India. Here is one such poem:

Is baar nahin Is baar jab woh choti si bachchi mere paas apni kharonch le kar aayegi Main usey phoo phoo kar nahin behlaoonga Panapney doonga uski tees ko Is baar nahin

Is baar jab main chehron par dard likha dekhoonga Nahin gaoonga geet peeda bhula dene wale Dard ko risney doonga, utarney doonga andar gehrey Is baar nahin

Is baar main na marham lagaoonga Na hi uthaoonga rui ke phahey Aur na hi kahoonga ki tum aankein band karlo, gardan udhar kar lo main dawa lagata hoon Dekhney doonga sabko hum sabko khuley nangey ghaav Is baar nahin

Is baar jab uljhaney dekhoonga, chatpatahat dekhoonga Nahin daudoonga uljhee door lapetney Uljhaney doonga jab tak ulajh sake Is baar nahin

Is baar karm ka hawala de kar nahin uthaoonga auzaar Nahin karoonga phir se ek nayee shuruaat Nahin banoonga misaal ek karmyogi ki Nahin aaney doonga zindagi ko aasani se patri par Utarney doonga usey keechad main, tedhey medhey raston pe Nahin sookhney doonga deewaron par laga khoon Halka nahin padney doonga uska rang Is baar nahin banney doonga usey itna laachaar Ki paan ki peek aur khoon ka fark hi khatm ho jaye Is baar nahin

Is baar ghawon ko dekhna hai Gaur se Thoda lambe wakt tak Kuch faisley Aur uskey baad hausley Kahin toh shuruat karni hi hogi Is baar yahi tay kiya hai

Javed Akhtar

He needs no introduction. He is a well-known Bollywood writer and lyricist. Some of his most successful work was with Salim Khan in the late 1970’s and 1980’s. He has won many awards including 5 National Awards, 14 Filmfare Awards, National Integration Award, Padma Shri, and Padma Bhushan for his tremendous contribution in Hindi Cinema. Out of his all great writings, my favourite is:

Ik baat honthon tak hai jo aayi nahin

Bas ankhon se hai jhaankti

Tumse kabhi, mujhse kabhi

Kuch lafz hain woh maangti

Jinko pahen ke honthon tak aa jaaye woh

Awaaz ki baahon mein baahein daalke ithlaaye woh

Lekin jo yeh ik baat hai

Ehsaas hi ehsaas hai

Khushboo si hai jaise hawa mein tairti

Khushboo jo be awaaz hai

Jiska pata tumko bhi hai

Jiski khabar mujhko bhi hai

Duniya se bhi chhupta nahin

Yeh jaane kaisa Raaz hai

Vishal Bhardwaj

He is a great filmmaker, but now he has come out with a book of his poetry called ‘Nude’. We all know that Vishal has some great visual and writing skills, and with this book, he expressed it all. The book contains some great ghazals and nazms, each comes with a meaningful story behind it. These poems are a great read for anyone, and especially for us – the 90’s kids. Please have a look:

Bachpan mein school ki jab

Bin kaaran chhutti ho to

Maare khushi ke bacchon mein

Kitna hulla hota hai

Bilkul waisa shor-o-gul

Mere andar hota hai

Jab milte ho achanak tum

Aate jaate raaston par
