Bollywood's Most Underrated Celebrities Whom We Love To See On Screen.

Amidst voices against the existing nepotism in the industry, Indian cinema is finally witnessing faces that are helping us in restoring faith in the industry. Not new though, but these faces have time and again created ripples in the industry and of course, in our minds. With Khans and Kapoors already on the shelf since ages, these actors have not just helped us understand what “real” acting is all about but also helped us get a fresh new perspective of story-telling altogether. They may not have gained quite a prominent rank in the crowd, but they have surely time and again shown in-depth performances all the while experimenting with newer roles.

With that being said, let’s check out some of the most underrated actors of Bollywood, whom we would love to see again on the silver screen.

1. Richa Chadda

I just don’t know how to explain this because it’s so obvious! Last seen in Fukrey 2, it seems Richa is just blessed with perfection. What adds more to her edgy on-screen presence is her quintessential rawness. Supporting or lead, she actually knows what real acting is all about and how to master it. Having given impeccable performances in different characters, Richa’s winning accolades at Cannes Film Festival 2015 is not quite a surprise. Richa has acted in Gangs of Wasseypur, Sarbjit, and Fukrey, and thankfully, she has several new projects up in 2018. And we just can’t wait for it!

2. Ronit Roy

I still remember when I saw him first in Ekta Kapoor’s Kasautii Zindagii Kay and I was like what is he doing on TV! Ronit Roy is not quite a fresh face yet he possesses brilliant acting skills. Yes, he has already given few performances around the 1990s but unfortunately, they turned complete flops. However, that didn’t stop him from experimenting with different roles until finally, he knew his niche. From Udaan to Kaabil, every role that he played was indeed crafted to perfection by him without any kind of overacting on board.

3. Vikrant Massey

From featuring in the popular daily soap, Balika Vadhu, to starring last in Web Series Rise in 2017, Massey actually shares a commendable onscreen presence. The roles that he played are small indeed, but the way he portrayed them on-screen leaves a trace in the minds of the audience. Thankfully, he has also been credited with it as he won the award for Best Actor in Caleidoscope Indian Film Festival for his film, A Death In The Gunj.

4. Radhika Apte

Radhika Apte is quite a popular name after having contributed significantly in regional cinemas. She made a stunning yet quiet debut in Shor: In The City, soon after which she bagged several projects like Hunterrr, Parched, and Badlapur. Apte has also given outstanding performances in several short films like Ahalya and Kriti. However, we still hope to see her in several brilliant roles.

5. Sumeet Vyas

I don’t know about others but at least I am dying to see him play a lead role! Vyas has already been in the industry for quite a long time but what gained him popularity was the web series, Permanent Roommates. Of course, his starrer with Kalki in Ribbon failed to live with many of our expectations, but he actually can do much better than that. Thankfully, this year we can see him opposite Kareena in Veera Di Wedding and we just can’t keep calm about it.

6. Saba Azad

Last seen in Mujhse Fraaandship Karoge, Saba bagged herself another awesome role in the web series, Ladies Room. Apart from being an actual theatre trained artist, Saba is also a singer, a part of Madboy/Mink, an electro-funk band and a producer. With so many skills, we’d actually love to see her in a leading role or several experimental roles.

7. Plabita Borthakur

Plabita Borthakur played a lead role in the much-controversial Lipstick Under My Burkha and we just can’t thank her enough for that! Apart from being a commendable actor, Plabita is also a well-trained classical singer. As for now, she is currently all busy working with another film and we just hope her role is as brilliant as her acting.

8. Ranvir Shorey

It’s really sad to know that THIS name is actually on the list! Shorey is one of those actors who is naturally gifted with acting skills. He played as a supporting actor for several films like Khosla Ka Ghosla and Pyar Ke Side Effects along with making dynamic collaborations with the much acclaimed Rajat Kapoor in Mithya and Fatso!

9. Gulshan Devaiah

Whether it’s the psycho spoiled rich brat of Shaitan or the lustful lad of Hunterrr, Gulshan Devaiah plays crisp selective roles and, yes, they are quite good. In spite of having performed in several other movies like That Girl In Yellow Boots and even in Bhansali’s Ram Leela, Gulshan still needs a lot more exemplary roles and movies to let him gain the spotlight that he actually deserves.

10. Vijay Raaz

It’s a fact that not many people take him seriously because of his looks, but you just can’t deny how dexterous Vijay Raaz is in acting. He is actually the best thing that happened in Delhi Belly and Dedh Ishqiya, all thanks to his crafty performance.

It’s already time to quit the Khans and the Kapoors. Instead, it’s high time that we should spend our money on watching these talented underrated actors!
